Builder Assist Program

You will have a satisfying and rewarding experience while building your FLS Microjet under professional supervision at BD-Micro Technologies, Inc. facilities in Siletz, Oregon.  Our Builder Assistance Program (BAP) is included in the purchase price of the FLS Microjet.  This program is structured around the revised amateur-built aircraft certification requirements (51 percent rule), as well as Advisory Circular 20-27G Certification and Operation of Amateur-Built Aircraft, issued 30 Sept 2009.

The FLS Microjet BAP ensures that this very technical, high performance aircraft is assembled correctly, efficiently, and in a timely manner.  It will also allow the owner to register it as an experimental aircraft under the latest FAA amateur-built guidelines.  Under these guidelines the builder is also eligible for a FAA Repairman’s Certificate, allowing them to perform maintenance, repair work, and complete annual inspections on their aircraft.  A key part of our BAP is the documentation of construction, which is used by the FAA in determining amateur built status of the aircraft.

The timing, number of visits, and duration of each visit can be adjusted based on the needs of the builder.  On completion of the program, the builder will have basic skills and a working knowledge of aircraft sheetmetal fabrication techniques, proper use of tools, use of aircraft production tooling, and assembly techniques.  Equally important is that in completing our BAP they will become familiar with several items essential to successfully operating and maintaining their aircraft.  These items include: an understanding of the electrical system function, wing removal and installation, control system rigging, landing gear rigging and wheel alignment, weight & balance, periodic & preventative maintenance, and inspection procedures.
